Root Micromax A100 and Install Clockworkmod recovery

Micromax A100 was a real good value for money until A110 was launched, and now the phone seems to have become obsolete. Don't know why, I didn't like this theory of Micromax, of announcing a successor to a phone that soon. Either they shouldn't have launched Micromax A100 at all, or should've preponed its launch. Leaving all this headache for the Micromax Company, I'm writing this guide to help you the A100 owners get more out of their device by rooting it and replacing the kinda useless stock recovery with the highly acclaimed clockworkmod recovery.

Before you proceed with the guide below, make sure you know a thing or two about rooting and have an idea about what you can do after rooting your device.

Disclaimer: Rooting will void your warranty, and no one except you shall be responsible for doing anything wrong with your device.

Root Micromax A100 Canvas:

  1. Go to Settings > Development > USB Debugging and tap the option to turn USB Debugging on.
Note: Don't turn it off even when you're done with this guide, it can be a lifesaver if you end up in a bootloop or soft brick your device.
  2. Install the drivers for your device using pdanet.
  3. Download Root.7z from mediafire. It's about 1.5 MB in size.
  4. Unzip/extract it using winzip or any other compression tool on your pc.
  5. Using USB cable, connect your phone to the pc.
  6. In the extracted folder (step 4), you will find a file named é”®root.bat, run the file.
Running the root.bat file will open this command prompt
  7. When a command prompt opens, press any key.
  8. Whenever press any key appears on your screen, press any key only when your phone is in switched on condition.
  9. Your phone is rooted now.
Next step is flashing clockworkod recovery to your device that will replace the stock recovery. Read why clockworkmod recovery is so useful to get convinced about whether you should install it or not.

Install Clockworkmod Recovery on Micromax A100:

  1. Download CWMrecovery specific for your mobile here.
  2. Install adb made easy on your PC from here. It is a small utility which lets you do simple things without the hassle of knowing the commands for them!

Selecting the appropriate file on adb made easy
  6. The tool will flash the recovery to your phone.
  7. Your device will boot into the recovery you just installed.
Both the guides were pretty simple, though may sound quite confusing to a newbie. For newbies, the comment box is right below this post, I'm here to help you out! This guide was posted on xda by bindassdost.
