[Mod] Update any Android 4.1 phone to Android 4.2

XDA Member Safariking has released a mod for all Android mobile phones running the older Android v4.1that will allow them to (kinda) upgrade to the newer JellyBean Android v4.2. The mod is actually a zip package which need to be flashed via clockworkmod recovery.

The mod has garnered a lot of eyeballs, and according to the OP, has been downloaded over 7k times in the first few hours. The guy who has brought this out, is just 17 years in age, and thus deserves some recognition.  It is to be noted that the Mod will work only for Cyanogenmod 10 and Android 4.1 and above.

The new goodies that await you when you flash this mod on your device are:

  • New Clock app
  • New Gmail app
  • New fonts
  • New Launcher app
  • Android 4.2 Keyboard (which supports swype-like input)
  • Android 4.2 Camera (with photosphere)
The latest stable version has only one bug, that photosphere might not run properly (or at all) on some devices. Safariking has been furiously providing updates to his mod. As far as other members' feedback is considered, most of the features except photosphere are reported working.

So, what the hell are you waiting for? Grab the mod now, and taste the 4.2 goodies before your manufacturer provides an official update (if it ever does provide one).
