WhatsApp will stop working on these phones by the end of 2016

WhatsApp is one of the best known FREE messaging applications worldwide. It is used by more than 1 billion people from all over the world where is the Internet connection. And the number of users is constantly increasing. Every person can join this perfect messaging app, as WhatsApp has already become a proprietary cross-platform app available for smartphones.

Unfortunately, WhatsApp has announced recently that some smartphones will not be able to use WhatsApp anymore by the end of this year. WhatsApp will not be able exactly for Simbian and Blackberry smartphones as well as for S40. This information was known since March 2016, but the concrete date wasn’t clear.

Nowdays the official date of cutting off support for mentioned smartphones is known. It will be December 31, 2016.

The official announcement was:

‘So, by the end of 2016, we will be ending support for WhatsApp Messenger on the following mobile platforms:

BlackBerry, including BlackBerry 10

Nokia S40

Nokia Symbian S60

Android 2.1 and Android 2.2

Windows Phone 7.1

iPhone 3GS/iOS 6

While these mobile devices have been an important part of our story, they don't offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app's features in the future. If you use one of these affected mobile devices, we recommend upgrading to a newer Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone before the end of 2016 to continue using WhatsApp.’

So if you wish to continue using WhatsApp application but you are an owner one of the above smartphones, the only way out for you is to upgrade to new smartphone by the end of the year.
