MWC Day 1: Nokia launches 3 Android smartphones in MWC 2014, ranged $120-150

Nokia's long rumored Android device Nokia X was finally unveiled officially amid much fanfare in the MWC 2014. Though the launch itself didn't surprise many, it proved that a few of the rumored specs were a shot in the dark. Also, there wasn't just one device that Nokia had been prepping all this while, it had three devices up its kitty, all in the low-end range.

Talking about the Nokia X, the most talked about among the lot, all the rumored specs were true except two important ones- Camera and Android version. Nokia X runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean instead of the rumored KitKat version and has a 3 MP back camera (5 MP was rumored to be present). It has been priced at 89 euros, which translates to $122 (or Rs. 7,500). Below are the main specs of the Nokia X.

Nokia X+ features the exact same specs as Nokia X but with an upgraded 768 MB of RAM. Nokia XL comes with some much needed hardware upgrades, including a bigger 5 inch screen, 768 MB of RAM, a 5 MP shooter at the back and a 2 MP shooter at the front.

As expected, all these devices are stripped off Google services and integrate Microsoft's alternatives like Bing Search, OneDrive cloud storage and Nokia's own Here Maps. It is expected though, that developmental efforts on this phone will be able to port stock vanilla Android on this device and thus bring support for Google Play Store as well as other Google Services. Without Google services, Android would make the operating system lacklustre, to us at least.

Share your views on what you think about this device. If priced at around Rs. 7500 in the Indian market, it doesn't look like the best deal in the market if you are an Android fan. On the other hand, if you don't mind adjusting to Nokia's interface and the restrictions it poses on the Android ecosystem on its phones, this might be a good bargain. There isn't any word over the Indian launch of the device though leaks suggest an IPL 2014 launch.
