Here’s What You Need to Know about Zenith Watches

Since 1865, Zenith has been developing modernistic watches with enormous features for every generation, and still holding its safe position in the list of high-quality Swiss watchmakers. It also had been a part of many history-making events. The famous one was when Felix Baumgartner performed an astronomical height jump which not only he survived but also the Zenith Stratos Flyback Striking 10th on his wrist. This proves that the brand never compromises on the quality of its unique products.

History

The company was originally started by George Favre-Jacot, the founder of the brand. He devoted himself to the Zenith at the age of 22, in 1885. Jacot only had an aim to make a revolutionary step in the watchmaking industry. He gathered all the craftsman experts in a single factory and in 1900, Zenith was presented the Grand Prix award for the optimal performance of its caliber. The brand’s headquarters was established in Le Locle, Neuchatel Switzerland. In 1984, Charles Vermont gathered all the technical ideas to start the production of the high-quality seminal automatic high-frequency chronograph movement.

Passing through multiple eras and having a huge percentage of success, Zenith is still producing different collections with a more iconic look and modernistic design with a touch of decency. Each collection has a different tag-line which reflects the characteristic of fine watchmaking.

In the list of top-rated calibers, the most famous is the Zenith El Primero Caliber, the world’s first automatic chronograph, practicing reliability and optimal precision since 1969. It was the revolutionary step by the brand to introduce the world with such innovative thinking with a futuristic design. In 1975, due to an overwhelming quartz movement, the company decided to cease the production of El Primero. Charles was appalled by the decision at that time. After 10 years of working, Charles Vermot re-introduce this caliber. He is still remembered as the savior of super-awesome seminal automatic high-frequency chronographs.

How much does a Zenith watch cost?

The company offers a full-featured timepiece with innovative design and comparatively affordable but the brand never compromised on the quality section. Almost all mechanisms are in-home. Many of its pre-owned models, you can find it in a few euros. But if you are planning to buy a new one, you should have a minimum of 4000 euros of budget. Chronometers collection ranges from 7,000 – 12,000 in US dollars.

Do Zenith Timepieces hold a resale value?

It is a wise and safe investment. Many of its old famous models are being sold at auctions, now being sold at a double or triple of their original prices. One of these models, a precious pocket watch, was gifted by Mahatma Gandhi to his granddaughter. In 2009 this timepiece was sold at auction in a paltry sum of 1.8 million dollars.

All timepieces are passed through multiple movements and pressure tests just to ensure the reliability and longevity of the device. Owning this watch keeps you worry-free because you already found a timepiece that represents precision, quality, and reliability.
